Iran’s Easter ”gift” to British diplomacy April 5, 2007

Yay! Iranians got brains. As I had hoped in my last blog if Iranians release Brits, they would not only avert useless military conflicts but could also steal the show. Ahmadinejad has done exactly that now (‘British sailors to come home’), freeing the sailors in a ceremonial style. All smiles. Just before Good Friday!

Second, it is a tribute to the British diplomacy. It is a great lesson for trigger happy nations, politicians, war mongers etc. that issuing threats and arm twisting, in critical times like these, is idiotic. It does not solve a problem but surely escalates it to dangerous levels . On the other hand, from UK, I saw some imbecile news headlines from the British tabloid The Sun that read, ”Sick Mullahs humiliate troops”, ”Brits ‘confess’ in sick Iran vid”. This is dangerous and stupid. Maybe The Sun should stick to its usual sleazy readership grabbing tactics…. ummmm like ”PAGE3”: The British Playboy hidden (displayed actually) right under The Sun’s esteemed webpage. Here is (Warning: The page is pornographic in nature and includes HOT topless models. Do I hear some men saying, ”Gee thanks for mentioning, lemme check! :-) )” ?) PAGE3 Link for you that is always there on The Sun’s front page. It is really annoying and SAD how some ”newspapers” would confuse news with pornography. Pimping and prostitution in print.

But even the ‘’serious” and ”reputed” The Telegraph’s call for making Iran ”fear us” was nothing less than irresponsible pandering. Just imagine, what would have happened if British government had Woofed at Iranians and told them, ”Iran, either release our boys or get ready for the wrath of our proud nation.” ???? Many would have loved it actually. It’s true! Stupidity attracts a lot of brains that hate to perform brain’s most important function, TO THINK.

This blog, in no way, supports Iranian government or Ahmadinejad who are record holders in imbecile thinking. (But actually it is not all that imbecile if we notice how much political power they gain because of it.) This blog is a resounding applause to the tactful, methodical and persistent diplomacy; British diplomacy in this instance. A job well done.

Happy Easter everyone. :-)

  1. Emberglow,
Liked your quote “Stupidity attracts a lot of brains that hate to perform brain’s most important function, TO THINK.”

If muscle atrophy can be measured, we should be able to do the same for the human brain.

One question: How are you so confident that it was British Diplomacy, because it looks like everyone was caught, like, rabbits in a headlight?

Perhaps the Iranians were milking the publicity and it was all orchestrated e.g. New suits Vs orange in Guantanamo, Smiles and handshakes Vs chained and shuffling with a guard few paces behind.

    Thanks for your comments justlearningman.

Indeed I am not that naive to think that Iran has not used the whole drama as a dirty propaganda forum. In fact it is fair to say that Iran made lots of lemonade with the lemons it got.

But I stress that the British diplomacy has played a very vital role in the timely and unconditional release of the captured Britons. Not only British government was very cautious not to snap diplomatic channels but it also ensured Iran was not goaded by rash comments or alienated by getting too close to American counsel or any ”help”.

Britain has played out the rules of engagement patiently and consistently. Even after the release of the prisoners Tony Blair did not forget to mention that UK has ”no ill will” towards Iran.
